Fallout: New Vegas Walkthrough - Pressing Matters
Pressing Matters is basically a separate reward for completing "You Can Depend on Me." You can pick up a few hundred caps by walking into the Sunset Sarsaparilla HQ and blowing up a simple machine. If you need some help, just look here for some quick help.
Pressing Matters - Getting the Quest
In order to get “Pressing Matters", you will need to complete “You Can Depend on Me" and talk to Alice McLafferty. As usual, she should be at her desk in the Crimson Caravan Company Main Office. If you've helped her before, she'll have a new mission that she can talk to you about. Talk to her to learn about a surviving bottle cap press that could prove to be very destabilizing for their poorly thought out bottle cap currency.
You'll be facing basic robots, so just bring some basic weaponry that can penetrate their armor.
Pressing Matters - Destroying the Bottle Cap Press
This is actually a really simple milk run mission, especially if you're at any remotely high level. Walk down to the Sunset Sarsaparilla Headquarters just off of the strip. It's marked on your map and just off of the western. If you approach it from the north, you'll actually be done in just a moment. Look for the Sunset Sarsaparilla trucks and go through the hole in the fence. There should be a few large doors to the factory floor. Pull out your weapon and go inside.
There should be a few shipping workers here. They're just very weak protectrons, so you should be fine. I had no trouble taking them out just using Recompense of the Falling. Any guns should work well too. The bottle press is actually right here. It's next to the giant stack of crates. Look at the bottle press and examine it to pull up the context screen. You can strip its important parts out and leave it useless without any skill checks.
That's actually it for the mission. Feel free to walk right back out the door and talk to Alice McLafferty for your 500 cap reward. While you're here though, you might as well look around the building for a fair amount of Sunset Sarsaparilla. You should also probably go to the reception area to officially start the “The Legend of the Star" quest. Talk to Festus to get the quest marker.
Pressing Matters - A Little Cleaning
One important thing is that you can walk slightly past the factory floor and find a maintenance closet with a Mr. Gusty called Mr. Janitor. If you have 50 points in Science, you can hack the terminal next to him and turn him back on. He'll proceed out to the bottling area and sweep up all the bottle caps on the floor. After a few minutes, he'll come back and dump them all into the garage can next to the door. You should get at least 500 caps from his little cleaning run. It's not officially part of the quest, but you might as well do it while you're here.
On that note, make sure that you explore and check trash cans too. Most trash cans in the building have some caps in them and there's a fair bit of slightly expensive loot and the only guards should be weak protectrons. It's definitely worth clearing out.
